RTX Voice, while great, is limited to Nvidia GPUs and needs to be run manually each time I want to use it so it wasn't very convenient to me, so I decided to look into other alternatives and found RNNoise, or rather "Real-time Noise Suppression Plugin" which is a plugin based on RNNoise. I tried things such as RTX Voice, a few built-in options in Discord and custom EQ. While it's not a big issue it's something that can easily be alleviated, so this got me into tweaking my own microphone setup a bit.

In the absence of something like this the only option would be to actually fiddle with cables (ideally from a digital output to a digital input to avoid introducing the noisy extra dac/adc steps), but I don't expect to put you through this trouble for my curiosity.Like a lot of people I've been using Zoom and Discord a lot for the past year due to the pandemic, for gaming as well as studying, and the sound of fans, keyboard noise or cars driving by has been a constant distraction during this time.

Regarding the last thing, what I meant was that some sound devices (traditionally internal soundcards, less so USB devices) have a recording device that shows in Windows under the name "Wave" or "Stereo Mix" that allows you to take a recording app and record sound from it, capturing the same signal that's being sent to the sound output without actually having to route wires from the physical jack to another physical input. I'd hope that if that was something not caused by some effect (incl Equalizer APO) being enabled that Microsoft would treat it as a bug.

Thanks, I'll see if I can reproduce this issue on my system. it was very noticeable for me, especially on male voices where I could feel the bass boost. I feel like it is most definitely not supposed to do this, does anyone know what’s happening? I uninstalled Equalizer APO, and now the “enable audio enhancements” switch does nothingīut I at least remember a distinct bass boostĪnd that was happening without any of the built-in bass effects enabled (or Equalizer APO equalizer modification taking effect)? When I have it installed, enabling audio enhancements drastically changes the sound, even when I have APO switched to “off” and all of the bands are flat. On that matter, what even are the “audio enhancements” that checking this box provides?Įdit: it would seem that Equalizer APO itself is the thing that’s causing the problem. Is this something I should leave unchecked? I’m looking for a listening experience that is as true to the source material as possible, so I assume that means it should go unchecked, but I want to double check with people that may have more experience with this. As I was looking through some of the settings on Windows, I saw that there was a box in the Focusrite properties checked for “enable audio enhancements.” I unchecked it and the headphones sounded wildly different. I recently got a pair of Sennheiser HD660S’, and I’m running them through a Focusrite Scarlett 2i2.
